"Giosué
Giannavello" History Prize
The Fondazione Europea Margherita sets up a biennial prize
for an unpublished historical research in the name of
Giosué Giannavello, a Waldesian patriot who lived
in the second half of the XVIII century.
The research will be about a topic of modern European
history, referring to the following fields:
- History of religions' wars in Europe between the
XVI and XVII centuries.
- History of the Institutions of that time.
- History of the mentality, the costumes, the culture,
the arts of that time.
- History of Europe and the international relationships
of that time with a special regard to those concerning
Piedmont.
- Biographies of historical characters of that time.
- History of the Savoy's Piedmont.
- History of the relationships between Catholics and
Waldensians.
- Local history of Pinerolo and Waldensians valleys
between the XVI and XVII centuries.
Each contestant, who must not be above 30 years old,
must send two typewritten copies of his work to:

The copies will not be given back and must be received
no later than 30th June 2004 by recorded-delivery. The
text may be in Italian or in French. The works will
be come part of the Foundation's Public Library. Graduated
and post-graduated thesis are allowed as long as not
published.
The first prize will be a cheque of € 1,000; second
prize will be € 500.
The jury, nominated by the Fondazione Europea Margherita,
composed of competent and professional people, will
choose the winners.
The prize will be awarded during a public ceremony in
December 2004.
